Larry May

U.S.

Larry May hails from Great Neck, NY where he began playing music at the tender age of 8 years old.  His love of music followed him to college @ SUNY-Buffalo, where he began writing original songs and playing with many local musicians.  Upon graduation, he led different bands like Blue Nova and the Virgins and played at NYC’s leading venues including CBGB, The Bitter End, Kenny’s Castaways, Luna Lounge, Arlene Grocery, Brownies and Webster Hall.  Later, his band Junk Male had a successful 2 month tour of Germany.

May played many solo acoustic shows and toured a number of colleges in the northeast.  He also played several well known west coast venues like Pappy and Harriet’s in Joshua Tree, CA and as an opener for John Wesley Harding at Yakima Community College in Yakima, WA.   As his songwriting developed further, his skills were recognized by a number international songwriting competitions, including winning the rock category of the John Lennon Songwriting contest for his song, “Temp.”

Beginning in 2004, May’s songs have been sought out by licensing agents and music supervisors.  Since then many of his songs have continued airing on day and primetime network and cable television and other on-line media.
