California-native Tom Kwake aka ‘tk’ is a versatile and prolific singer-songwriter-producer, who has never lived far from the ocean. Raised in Malibu, Tom creates in multiple genres that range from Acoustic/Folk, Pop, Rock, to Jazz, EDM, and Hip-Hop and is currently focusing on writing for advertising, TV, and film, as well as pop music. A few of Tom’s early musical influences were BB King, the Beatles, Al Jarreau, Michael Franks, Led Zeppelin, James Taylor, Crosby-Stills-Nash; more recently he has been influenced by some of the works of John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, The Chainsmokers, Calvin Harris, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift. As a lead guitarist, you can hear the influences of Jimmy Paige and Eric Clapton. While guitars (electric, acoustic, lead, rhythm, bass; and mandolin, guilele, and banjo) are his main instrument, he plays drums, keyboards, and programs. Tom recently left a lifelong career in biotechnology to write, produce, and record music fulltime—solo, as part of The Kwakes alongside his daughter Katelyn Kwake, who has inherited his music interests and talents, and with other songwriters in co-writing relationships. Writing hooks, vocal arrangements, and collaborations with EDM/Hip-Hop producers are current areas of interest and enjoyment for Tom.
